Off the Beam and Bethany Angel

Deck the Halls is an Off the Beam pattern. I cut it out of a Crafters Marketplace magazine before they went by the by. The other is a pattern by Simple Country Blessings called Bethany Angel. Both of these are for sale at Cranberry Hill Mercantile. Both SOLD. Click to Enlarge.

Buttons and then some.

I finally bagged a lot of these old buttons and sold them.  Why one thinks they need so many is not a question a crafter/artist can answer.  Maybe it starts when as little girls we get to play with our Grandmother's button box.  We all have stashes of fabric we'll never use, trims we'll never use and for sure buttons we'll never use.  My answer to why we stash is because we cannot readily find vintage findings easily.  It takes years of prodding through flea markets, antique shops, garage sales (I hate garage sales) and thrift shops.  My favorite places to find these bits and pieces are at church rummage sales.  They are the most reasonable and they work so hard to raise the money that they donate to charitable organizations.

Cabinet

Just another part of the room.  My sister Debbie bought me this 5 drawer antiquey cabinet for Christmas a couple of years ago.  The picture on the wall just above it displays many packets of old sewing needles.  A clever little way to keep them.  The lamp is a mannequin.

Sewing Machine area

I always have my sewing machine facing a window.  I got this machine last summer at the Sewing Show in San Mateo and I love it.  It is a Janome Memory Craft 6600.  I didn't need a new machine I just wanted it.  This time I didn't get rid of my old machine, kept it just in case I ever have to take this one into shop for repairs.

Sewing Room Corner

Without even straightening things out I decided to show you "Where I Create".  I use that phrase as there is a book out entitled thusly.  In that book there were a lot of unusual and grand studios and also a lot of rooms that were a lot more messy than mine.  Pictures are deceiving though.

Finally, My Blog!

It took me a year to get around to doing this.  I still don't have the hang of it entirely but I will figure it out as I go along. I figured out how to attach a banner.  But I had to do part of the blog twice as I learned that the first item you input becomes the last item on the page.  So from now on there will be no more trying to decide which item goes first.  It took me exactly 3 hours to do the entire blog because of redoing several of the posts to get it in the right order.

Mini Sewing Machines

I have been collecting these little machines for quite awhile.  I also have a collections of the small sewing machines they made for children as well.

Mannequins

Mannequins and other sewing paraphernalia.  Dust collectors all.

Thimbles, a plenty

I have all these thimbles and I do not know how to use one of them.  I just can't do it.  I buy every thimble-like gadget that comes out, leather bands, sticky dots, 1/2 thimbles so part of your finger hangs out - not no way.  They just fall off my finger.

Gypsy

Gypsy will be 17 years old come Spring.  My niece Emily found her at our Sonora house prior to our moving up there after we retired.  I already had a cat and really did not want another.  At the time she was a kitten and we would go up there every other week-end and she would come around and hang around with my husband.  Long story short, when we moved up there, she moved in.  She is my dear friend and my only child.  There is no doubt in her mind that she is a person.  So I've always let her believe it.  She is very very very spoiled.

Gypsy and the girls

When I had two cats they would both sleep with the dollies, one on each side.

Gypsy, There's No Place Like Home!

Oh my gosh, isn't life grand when you are a cat.

Vintage Christmas - 1950's

This is a small display set up in the dining room/kitchen area of my house.  Since I sell a lot of vintage Christmas items to find any in my house is a rarity.

Vintage Pinecone People

This is a collection of pinecone people that I've been accumulating for several years.  They were prevalent during my childhood.  I have found them for as little as a quarter, but if you go on eBay you will find people bidding up to $12.00 a piece for them.

Show Booth

This is one of my displays at a show I did earlier in the year.  Some of the items are still available and are for sale at Cranberry Hill Mercantile, El Camino & Mary, Sunnyvale, Calif.
